Diabetes and Pregnancy: THE BOOK!

This is the news I've been waiting to share for four years, and the reason I began blogging in the first place.

My book, "Healthy Mom, Healthy Baby: Balancing Pregnancy With Pre-existing Diabetes," sold last week to Demos Health, a division of Demos Medical Publishing.

I'll be writing it this year and barring any problems, it will be published in early 2010, under my real name and byline.

It's the book I wanted when I was planning to get pregnant, and then was pregnant, and couldn't find: a book about what it was actually like to be pregnant with diabetes, written by someone who knew, firsthand.

It will include the insights of *many* other women, with type 1 and type 2 diabetes. Maybe even you.

If you're pregnant now, or thinking about getting pregnant, or have been pregnant in the past, and would like to be interviewed, please email me at Lyrehca AT gmail DOT com and I will be in touch.

If this book is something you'll want to buy, let me know, and I'll keep you posted on when it's available and where you can buy it.

Thanks, everyone, for reading this blog, for your comments about pregnancy and diabetes, and for your support. I can't wait to show you this book when it's complete.

Congratulations! What fabulous news! I know in your hands this will be a great book. :)

I'll volunteer for an interview--but also understand if my very unusual situation & outcome makes it hard to use my input. Let me know.

Yay! Congratulations! Although I'm still several years away from planning for a pregnancy, I'm still excited that a baby book for D moms will finally be written by someone who knows what it's like. I'll definitely pick up a copy next year when it comes out!

I would definitely be interested in buying your book if it was out now! By the time it's out I won't be pregnant anymore! :P

All the best with the writing/publishing process!

Congratulations! I know that the hardest part was convincing a publisher that there is a need for this info - they just don't get it!

When I was writing my book I really wanted to more strongly point out the risk of post-partum depression in women with diabetes - but there were no studies out to back me up (just, oh, half a dozen of my interviews of moms with diabetes!). Did you see that there was a recent study about that risk? Not sure if that's a topic you plan to cover, but I wanted to mention it.

Woohoo! This is wonderful news! I recently read through all of your blog posts, and found your tales of pre-baby gearing up, pregnancy, and post-baby super informative and inspirational. Can't wait to see all of your stories and insights packed into one amazing book. I'm planning a pregnancy with type 1, so your book can't be published soon enough!

Congrats! How great for you and all your future readers!

DH is type 1 and I have a few of my own hypo sugar issues/PCOS, so I'm all too familiar with the fun you deal with.

Kudos again!
